Become a Camp Counselor at KOSC
Full-Time / Part-Time, Seasonal – Sonoma, California
Reports to: Camp Director
Season: June–August 2026 (on-site residency required during assigned camps)
Compensation: $1,300–$1,500 per week (commensurate with experience and qualifications)
Housing: Shared cabin accommodations provided on-site at Wing & Barrel Ranch

Must be 18 years of age or older

Must commit to a minimum of two (2) one-week camp sessions during June–August 2026 (weeks do not need to be consecutive)

Ability to reside on-site during assigned camp sessions

Successfully pass a California State & Federal background check and reference screening

Prior experience working with youth (ages 9–17), volunteer or paid
-
Experience in outdoor activities such as camping, hunting, firearms use, fishing, and archery
-
Willingness to receive additional training in outdoor skills and potentially pursue instructor-level certifications
-
Current First Aid/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain before camp)

Ability to work long hours outdoors in summer conditions and lift up to 50 lbs

Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team
The ideal candidate should:
Maintain a positive attitude, enthusiasm, and strong team-player mindset
Work well with youth ages 9–17 and serve as a professional, positive role model
Create and maintain a safe, supportive, and structured camp environment
Have a genuine love for the outdoors and conservation
Demonstrate leadership, responsibility, and sound judgment
Communicate clearly with campers, staff, parents, and supervisors
Be adaptable, dependable, and committed to KOSC’s mission and values

Compensation:$1,800–$2,200 per week (commensurate with experience and qualifications)

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in outdoor education, recreation, youth leadership, or related field
Minimum 3 years of experience in camp management, outdoor education, or youth leadership
Proven ability to lead teams and manage logistics in outdoor environments
Strong communication, leadership, and conflict-resolution skills
Ability to work long hours outdoors in variable summer weather
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and navigate uneven terrain
Current First Aid/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
Experience with firearm and/or archery instruction preferred (training available)
Must pass a background check and reference screening
Must reside on-site for the duration of the camp season

Demonstrate a strong commitment to youth development, conservation, and outdoor education
Lead with confidence while fostering a positive, team-oriented camp culture
