About Beginner Camp
About Beginner Camp
Recommended Ages: 9–12
Note that these are “recommended ages” – However prior achievements are taken into consideration
Beginner Camp is your camper’s gateway into the world of outdoor sports, conservation, and responsible stewardship.
This level is perfect for first-time participants or those with minimal experience — and it sets the foundation for everything that follows.
What We Cover
- Hunter Education Course & Certification — Campers engage in classroom instruction, quizzes, and interactive lessons. At the end of the week, they’ll take the Hunter Education test; those who pass earn their official Hunter Education Certificate.
- Hands-On Range Time & Marksmanship Basics — Supervised by experienced instructors, campers apply what they learn in class through guided practice at the range — focusing on safety, stance, sighting, trigger control, and basic firearm and archery handling.
- Introduction to Conservation & Wildlife Education — Through classroom sessions and field demonstrations, campers explore the principles of wildlife management, habitat, ethics, and the balance between sports and stewardship.
- Supplemental Activities — Alongside core curriculum, campers will also practice archery, fishing, and participate in nature walks, wildlife observation, and group games.
- Fun, Community & Camp Life — From cabin living to evening programs, meals, and campfire talks, campers build friendships, grow confidence, and experience the rhythm of camp life. All activities are supported by safety protocols, staff oversight, and a welcoming community. All of our camps are overnight programs (Sunday afternoon to Friday afternoon). Campers rest in cabins with cots, and each camp concludes with a closing awards ceremony.
Why Beginner Camp Matters:
This level isn’t just about “starting from scratch” — it’s about giving every camper a solid, well-supervised foundation. Even returning campers will find value here as they internalize principles, gain confidence, and strengthen safe habits that will serve them in more advanced levels.
