Kids Outdoor Sports Camp (KOSC) is a registered 501(C)3 organization proudly celebrating its 27th year of summer camps this upcoming summer. We are continuously dedicated to building the next generation of outdoor and conservation leaders to ensure a bright future for California hunting, angling, and shooting sports.
KOSC started their first year in the summer of 1998, starting with a single camp that welcomed 16 campers. The following year saw the expansion to 2 camps, each accommodating 16 children. Over the course of 26 years and 27 summer camps later, KOSC has flourished into one of California’s most successful and engaging hunter education programs. We take pride in hosting over 200 campers each summer! The camps have been hosted at various locations across California, where children can fully engage with the great outdoors for a whole week. For over 26+ summers, KOSC has successfully trained thousands of kids in California.

How it all started
Founded in 1998 by Judy Oswald, KOSC was established following her experience taking her grandchildren to a hunter education course. Judy recognized that the program fell short in conveying the essential role hunters play in conservation and wildlife management, as well as the importance of fostering a connection between children and nature. With a vision for a more enriching experience for youth, she emphasized the need for hands-on training, moving beyond the traditional one- or two-day courses that were prevalent at the time. Thus, KOSCs journey commenced. Judy remains actively involved in the camps, sharing her passion for conservation and education. Her contributions are crucial in supporting our Wood Ducks and educating young hunters, and the children eagerly anticipate her captivating stories each summer.
